Germany, Switzerland & Italy

The ring of the phone at 6:15am was the wake up call that started our day in Italy. I rushed into my wardrobe and began a new adventure as I strolled to the bus with my Explorica family. After a short drive we arrived at the dock and boarded a boat for the journey to Venice. My breath was taken away at the sight of this famous city. Our first activity consisted of a glass blowing demonstration that left me stunned. Second, was a hour long tour of the Dutch palace. Our history lesson in the glory of this stately home beat a textbook definition any day; nothing could describe its beauty. Every room was more spectacular than the last. Next, Alba released us for free time where my family enjoyed freshly prepared pizza, dazzling structures, and souvenir shops. At 4:30 I checked something off my bucket list as we hopped on a wonderfully crafted gondola. Finally, our day came to an end as we found our way back to the hotel and feasted on pasta and small potatoes. Everything about Italy is art: the food, architecture, people, and even the language. I left my heart in Venice and hope to return someday and retrieve it. Kellee Martini, TX
